Physics-based digital twins to prevent food waste

A PhD project at the Graduate School for Cellular and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Bern and Empa's Biomimetic Membranes and Textiles laboratory has investigated how a digital avatar can simulate the physical, physiological and microbiological processes in fruit in order to increase their shelf life. The project is part of a longer joint research on metabolization processes between Empa and the ARTORG Center.
