New Setup for Dynamic Spatial Hearing Tests

The ARTORG Hearing Research Laboratory has developed a new setup for dynamic sound field audiometry in collaboration with clinicians from the ENT department of Inselspital, Bern University Hospital. The authors of the study just published ahead of print in “Applied Acoustics” showed the set-up enables a time-efficient assessment of a person's sound localization, discrimination and tracking abilities under realistic but reproducible conditions. The system is currently used to assess the influence of directional microphones on the spatial hearing abilities of patients with cochlear implants.
