Matthias Andreas Fontanellaz started his career as a medical student, but decided to slightly change this direction. With the aim of studying Biomedical Engineering he started studying Mechanical Engineering at the Bern University of Applied Sciences. His interests covered topics around industry automation, robotics and rehabilitation technology. For his bachelor thesis he developed an exoskeleton knee joint. A special feature of this joint was the four-bar linkage that mimics the crucial ligaments. During the Masters program in Biomedical Engineering his interests focus on machine learning and especially deep learning. He is looking forward to working on a Master Thesis which aims at incorporating recipe information obtained from images in an existing project.
