HEARING poster prize

PhD candidates András Bálint and Emile Talon, from the ARTORG Hearing Research Laboratory, won the "Certificate of Excellence, 3rd Best of Poster Prize" at the international HEARING (High-resolution structural and functional EAR imagING, ) workshop in Monte Verità, Ascona, on 24 May 2023.

(zvg.)

András research is concerned with correlations between hearing outcomes with cochlear implant and plastic brain changes caused by hearing loss, which he investigated using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) recordings of cortical brain activation during an audiovisual task.
Emile addresses the transmission of mechanical vibration generated by bone conduction hearing implants and their expected improvement when implanted in regions of denser bone by developing a thickness and density-based column density index.

The multidisciplinary congress with workshops on all aspects of middle and inner ear research was organized by Prof. Dr. Lukas Anschütz from the ENT Department of the Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, and Dr. Anne Bonnin from the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI).
