Prof. Dr. Brice-Olivier Demory joins ARTORG as interfaculty member

We are thrilled to announce that Prof. Dr. Brice-Olivier Demory has joined the ARTORG Center as an interfaculty member! He is currently an affiliated professor with the university's Center for Space and Habitability (CSH).

Prof. Demory has a PhD in Astrophysics and serves as Head of the Exoplanets & Origins in Life research group at the CSH, where he currently mentors 2 Postdocs and 4 PhD students. His research interests reach from the detection of exoplanets (Saint-Ex), the search for life beyond the Earth (SenseLife), over astronomical instrumentation to non-invasive cancer detection and staging techniques. Among his scientific achievements is the discovery of the TRAPPIST-1 exoplanetary system.

Another focus of his research is the PolaSight project – a consortium which assembles four complementary expert teams in machine learning (AIMI), visceral surgery, pathology (PATHO) and imaging instrumentation, the latter being contributed by Demory’s group. The aim of the project is to aid the surgeon in identifying tumour margins during surgery through the development of a novel visualization approach that uses spectro-polarimetry. He looks forward to developing further technology transfer between space sciences and medicine at ARTORG.

We would like to wish Prof. Dr. Brice-Olivier Demory a warm welcome to ARTORG and look forward to the collaboration between our two centers!
