ARTORG Start-Up SurgExplore wins 2nd Place at MICCAI Society Startup Village Pitch Competition

SurgExplore, a digital health start-up of ARTORG’s Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging (AIMI) Laboratory, placed 2nd in the MICCAI Society Startup Village Pitch Competition. The first three winners of this competition are eligible to take part as exhibitors in the MICCAI 2026 conference in Strasbourg this Autumn.

ARTORG Start-Up PeriVision Demonstrates Clinical-Grade Performance

A new study conducted at University Hospital Bern (Inselspital) shows that VisionOne, PeriVision's VR-based eye-testing platform, delivers clinical performance comparable to the Octopus 900, a stationary perimeter considered the gold standard, across the full spectrum of glaucoma severity.

ARTORG Spin-Off LEM Surgical Demonstrates Capabilities of Surgical Humanoid Robot

LEM Surgical, a spin-off developed out of ARTORG’s former Image-Guided Therapy (IGT) research group, published its first scientific article “Impact of a novel spine stabilization technique on intervertebral movement in cervical spine surgery using a humanoid surgical robotic system,” demonstrating the groundbreaking capabilities of its surgical humanoid robot.

ARTORG’s AI in Health and Nutrition Group Contributes AI Expertise to Horizon Europe Project AIRIS

AIRIS (Mechanism-Informed Multimodal Generative AI for Causal and Dynamical Modelling in Biomedical Research) brings together 21 partners from Europe, Canada, and the US to develop generative AI models that combine biomedical and clinical data, existing knowledge, and mechanistic models. ARTORG researchers will contribute expertise in causal AI, mechanism discovery, and multimodal modelling to advance AI-supported biomedical discovery and personalized medicine.

ARTORG Start-Ups PolaSight & SonoStent receive Venture Kick Stage 2 Funding

On June 15th and 16th, 2026, the Kick Foundation announced that two start-ups from the ARTORG ecosystem were selected to receive the Venture Kick Stage 2 financial support: PolaSight, a product of the Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging laboratory, and SonoStent, which developed out of the Urogenital Engineering research group.
